Save our Apprenticeships!

UBC members share a commitment to being the most highly trained in our field. But right now, our apprenticeship programs are at risk.

Because non-union contractors can’t meet the training standards that we set with our apprenticeship programs, they want to create new training programs called “industry apprenticeship programs”. Then they could call their young workers “apprentices” without providing anywhere near our level of training. That would help them steal government work from union contractors like you who invested in high-quality training. The Trump administration has the choice to side with union carpenters and protect the integrity of our training. Or, they can change a rule and let greedy contractors line their pockets by creating low-quality "apprenticeships".
